After school?

Here's some throwbacks...
Part of what I'm gonna miss in my high school life is of course, after school. Within the past 2 years Starbucks has been one of my hangout spot, they don't even ask for what I'm gonna get assuming I'm gonna get a vanilla frap. ~~Not to brag but~~ I've treated a lot of people in Starbucks using only coupons, ahah may I say that those coupons from work went a looo0ong way.

Anyways, within the past 3 years, I've notice a change of who I am to walk/hangout with after school.

Freshmen year: I'm gonna miss that bus stop.
Sophomore: First half: Danielle, Erika, and Julienne (Woy Mendoza Sumandal ka)= CVS developing pictures and them following someone (XD) and then there's Julia -- swear were like in Starbucks almost every Friday debating about evolution.
Second semester: I met the Twins and start hanging out/walking home with them (+Daniel) since we basically live in the same direction.
Junior: Hanging out with Daniel and the twins continues, volleyball after school (when we literally are the only ones who play) and walking at the mall. That spot in the corner of wings and things have a lot of memories; Peperoni vs Sausage, which we always ending up getting both since we mostly get the party starter at Little Caesars. Group grew bigger with Erica and Mike, and we witness MICA happen. Soon, we learned that twins are moving. When the twins left, I found myself in the Abueg's house everyday after tennis practice with Bev+Alfred, oh yeah.. I was introduced to Cotija's Carne Asada Fries. Summer of 09 was out and so is the Abuegs.
Senior: I became busy with Robotics, going home at like 8 in the night. Then Bev's house became our house, playing tekken never gets old. Walking buddies: I got stuck with Blessy who I thought was the only person left that walks in the same way as I do(jk). I met the incoming "newbies" Freshmen Jhude and transfer Danielle B. whom I call Bugarin. In my last year of my high school is only I know someone who I didn't hear the word LIBRE ahahah, First person na inaya ko sa Starbucks that I didn't have to treat: Bugarin.

LOL, I honestly don't know what happened first in my sophomore year. I think it was Julia or DEJ first.
so yeah at least its our turn to be the one who leaves.

CABE

So I applied for a couple of scholarships and one of them is from the CABE foundation. CABE stands for California  Association for Bilingual Education.  

It's funny since our Scholarship advisor Ms. DeVore just hand the scholarship application  to me forgetting to tell me what the requirements are.

Since it was given to me, I started filling the application up.

A week later, I was about to go to the post office to send it when one of my classmates saw it and she was like "don't your GPA exceed 3.5?" -- and I was like yeah. She told me that I'm not eligible for this one because the requirements include the  GPA of the applicants must not exceed 3.5. So I told her that it's not this one since this application was handed to me, I thought she was talking about another scholarship. I went ahead and drop it in the post office.  

So, I have the scholarship bulletin and I felt like checking the requirements and it said

Must be a senior
Bilingual
2.5 or higher GPA, but should NOT exceed 3.5

Oh great! I just wasted my time filling out the application/ doing the essay for this.(and yes! I felt like a dummy checking the requirements AFTER I did the application).

I thought, I'm not even gonna wait for them to reply thinking that they probably didn't even read my application because I'm "overqualified" for it. 

Two weeks later I got an envelope from them, I didn't want to open it cause I thought it's just one of those "thank you for your participation" letters.  

But whatever, I opened it and it says that I got the scholarship and is being invited to a breakfast/awards ceremony ;)

But before I got all hype up. I wanted to tell Ms. DeVore about what happened. I went to her office the next day and the first thing she said when she saw me was "congratulations"--(I haven't even said anything yet about the scholarship), I told her about me getting the award even though I didn't "acquired" one of the requirements. She just said "oh well, you got it" -- basically they gave it to me.

So we went to the breakfast, the invitation includes two complimentary ticket and + 1 for my most inspiring educator = 3 free tickets. took place at Rancho del Rey Middle, which is a really nice middle school

The place was really nice 

           I forgot to tell you guys that applicants were also required to sent in a picture with their application and  essays.

So when me and my dad got there, the first thing I saw was my freaking face in this flat screen attached to the wall with a quote from my essay. I'm like wth? there was about 200 or more people in the room.
Then It starts moving, thank god it's a slide show! 

After we ate, the winners were told to sit in one side of the room. There were a lot of winners. About 75 winners only 13 are high school students and the rest are compose of grade 6 and middle school students.

 Oh yeah, the screen froze on my profile half way through the event :| . 10 minutes before the program/awarding starts we were told that high school students are preferred to give a little message for the young ones about high school and are required to present and introduce our most inspirational educator.

Since I wasn't prepared, I started writing on a piece of paper of what to say and who to thank. LOL the next thing I know, everybody was borrowing my pen. So they presented the awards in groups of 3's I was one of the first ones. Wasn't really nervous since I'm the last one to go in the podium. Overall, I did good (I think).

So It's been a fun 4 years. As much as I hate waking up early to go to school and having 2hours of sleep everyday doing homeworks/studying for a test, I'm really gonna miss all the friends and memories.

I'm gonna miss my dirty locker. I kept telling myself that I'm gonna clean it before I graduate, but it never happen.

I'm gonna miss that AP Government textbook, which I carried 24/7 but I just read for like 3X a week (dude, that was full of notes.. you can ask Chen and Bev who had a hard time taking all of the sticky notes out before I returned it to the library) [LOL, thanks again]

and I'm gonna miss ~~some~~ all of them, :)

Robotics (San Diego Regionals)

Took place in San Diego Sports Arena

Day 1: We didn’t really do much on the first day, we just set up our pit, make some adjustments with PePe (that’s the nickname of our robot Spartacus) to pass inspection and collected buttons!! Yay. It’s more of a fun day XD until we found out that the only thing that’s working with our robot is the wheels!!! The kicker and hook is not! So much for PR explaining to other teams what our robot can do and the game is called “Breakaway” which is like SOCCER. But come to think of it, we only have 1 programmer and salute to him for making the robot work. Later in the afternoon Ms. Hodge told us that San Diego channel 6 will visit the regionals early in the morning so we have to be there by 5:30 AM!!! I didn’t want to go, but wth we (I didn’t want to be in it) need the publicity! So PR starts spreading the word to the other teams about the channel 6 visit they said thanks and we said you’re welcome. And yeah, we played soccer in the late afternoon! Was fun, one man team so there’s like 15 teams in a game. (and I didn’t bring my camera in the first day cause I know were gonna be busy setting up the pit)

Day 2: Early in the morning, I found out that MTS busses doesn’t start transporting until 6:15 am, but I needed to be in school at 5 am so we can be in the TV, apparently they will start taping 5:30am. So Mr. Felix picked me and Amoree up in our house. Got there at about 5:35 am and the TV people is not even set up yet.

I took my camera with me so I just start taking pictures of them people playing soccer/Random shots. We tape, and we get to be in the TV for like less than 30 mins, but it was fun. Practiced my photography skills. I like Patricia's pose on this pic. (This Blog setup/format is soo hard to manage I might make one entry with just the pictures I took).

The team went to IHOP for breakfast, and I’ve never been to IHOP so I wanted to pour their syrups! XD It’s cool they have different flavors haha. Take pictures and then went back to the sports arena.

So after fun morning, it became frustrating. We played defense throughout the whole day. Since our kicker is not working, but I guess Defense is the best offense as I think we did pretty good. But there was a lot of attitudes on who was gonna drive it. Day went by quickly. Before the day end, I heard our robot’s kicker flap, the kicker starts working! Thanks to team Robodox for helping our programmer!

Day 3: Our collectibles from the other team is growing! :D haha,

it was pretty sad though, most of the people are not even there, its funny how we came from a “Most spirited” school and most of our members are selfish to give up on us/ I mean they’re not even there in most of the meetings and the least they can do is to support us by cheering. We know we didn’t have a chance to win anything that has something to do with the robot because we played defense in the first two days, but I thought we had a chance for judges’ award or something because I believe we have a pretty descent PR. But some of the people are so “pessimist” they think we didn’t have a chance at all, I mean if they don’t think we had a chance on something then for sure were not gonna win anything. But to think of it, we have 1 returner with us and it’s only our team’s second year. ll have a better outcome.

Awards ceremony came, and we waited and waited and waited, probably one of the most frustrating part of the event haha we didn’t win anything but we definitely learned something. It was kind of sad that all of the “7days a week, less than 6 hours a day that we spent” went to nothing (awards wise). Not entirely nothing because we did get some experience on how it is like.

But at the end of the day we did fair with a score of [w-l-d] (5-4-1) and rank mid 20’s out of 49 teams!

After the whole thing, the Morales throw a simple gathering and the food was good!!!! We watched Avatar and it was fun, I didn't want to go home yet but it was pretty late.

I just hope that LV regionals will have a better outcome

Real story is, back in PI my phone's network provider is called "smart" as in "smart network/smart buddy" so when I tried to create an e-mail/mailbox out of my phone I figured smart + my name = smartfed... and I created most of my sites like years ago...

I'm HORRIBLE at testing

I don't know, Like seriously when I think I finally get the lecture or something the test day comes and Ill just plank it.

I'm talking about test as in Finals

I can get high scores with the quizzes (If its not a surprise one) but when the teacher calls it a "TEST,FINALS and EXAM" I just know Ill get lower scores.

I remember getting straight A's with the QUIZZES on my FRESHMEN YEAR and then plank the FINALS.

Well duh!, I know the difference!

I just wish they call it the
Midterm quiz, SAQ instead of SAT's, and the AP quiz :))

Ever had a friend that tells you a secret or something that means a lot to them?
at first they'd be like

"Hey, I have something to tell you, but wag mong sabihin kahit kanino ha?

Of course you'll be flattered thinking that this person trust you enough to tell this things to you.

But then next thing you know other people are gossiping about it.

So I took the AP test last March and I never really got my scores via mail. So I was wandering what happened and I was really curious about it. So when my classmates are asking me what I got; I told them that I got a "2" since I don't want to tell them that I passed it when I'm not really sure, and I also didn't want to tell them that I have not gotten it since everybody has (thinking that they will think that I just failed it and is only in denial).

But I was really dying to know my scores, so I called the collegeboard to findout.
I was really nervous and the call cost $8 per section, I thought; I better not waste this $8 and my time calling if I'm just going to find out that I failed this test.

Yeah so to make story short, I passed APLAC :D

Pinkeye

So First day of school was really fun, I like all of my classes and teachers. I'm actually excited for my senior year.

Except that,
I went through my first day of school with really itchy eye, I went to the school nurse to get some eye patch to only find out that they don't have some anymore, so the nurse just taped a gauze in my eye (a really huge one) so people started asking what the heck happened to me, and I kept telling them that it's only a pinkeye.

Day 5 of pinkeye,
As much as I don't want to miss a day in school, my doctor suggest me not to; to prevent " worsening and spreading my eye bacterial infection". So I missed a total of 3 days in school, and now I have to do a bunch of work to catch up. I didn't even go to my community service.

It's starting to heal now, so hopefully I can go to school by Friday.

Insomnia

It's been 3 weeks that I can't sleep early, I'd sleep at like 3 0r sometimes 4 am. Maybe it's coz it's still vacation. But I'm gonna have to start sleeping early so that school is not gonna be like last year. :|

So it's been 2 months since my last post here,

and were gonna be Seniors in the next school year!

I'm gonna be so busy with all the stuff and I'm hoping senioritis will not get in to me.

Though it's gonna be another exciting and adventurous year, Ill definitely miss the "oldies" that said goodbye to us together with their graduating year.

You two were the first to leave us! You didn't even finish your last year of school here. Good thing we have YM!!! I remember the first time we hangout upstairs in the 100 building which was like our own base where we have our little "picnics", first time to go to downtown together (which was my first time to go there with friends), our times in Seaworld and PLAZA B. I missed the times when we use to hangout in Downtown, your house, and eating dinner (which you guys cooked). Hopefully you guys visit us soon!!! and You know what I discover????/ I think I got my being a "photographer" from you two!!! (I remember you 2 were the only people who had a camera on every of our galas). VISIT US!!!!! (ps: mas masaya pag surprise :DD)

Like Mendoza we didn't hangout that much this year too, but that's fine since we always talk alot in YM hehe. We'll miss you and I really think that your gonna be successfull in anything you do. We currently had a Visual presentation on my APLAC class analyzing how effective an ad can be, we get to work with a partner and my partner brought an ad about global warming, and I decided to bring an ad from PeTA thinking how effective most of the ads they have. (and yup, that's the first thing I had in mind).

We decided to use mine, thinking we didn't have enough background information about the creator of her ad ( and we decided mine is more effective ;) ).

I really think that the ad is effective in a way that it calls attention and even an audience without interest on being pro or anti fur will care.

Personally, I have mix opinions about PeTA (next blog topic :D) but most of their ads just makes you think their always right....

and based on my research,(GOOGLE) the thing she's holding is a carcass of a fox.
